Prior Requirements For Training
Age Requirement: The minimum required age for this type of training is 17 years while the maximum age limit is 25 years. This age gap of 17-25 years makes you eligible for appearing in the merchant navy examinations. According to the rules of the government, the scheduled castes and tribes get relaxation and extension of up to five years.
Fitness and Physical Health: This is a very significant requirement for being placed at the dock. Academic Qualification: 1. For the officer grade, you must have a total of 60 percent in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, as well as at least 50 percent in English. Salary For GP Rating:
During the training time, an Ordinary Seaman earns 200-300$ (Rs 12000-18000), and after 9 months of sea duty as an Ordinary Seaman, the applicant also earns a Watch Keeping Certificate and is promoted to Able Bodied Seaman (AB), earning 1000-1500$.
